Modern Physics and Modern Art

This will feature some points mainly about Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso and the connection between modern physics and modern art

1. Einsteins theory of relativity influenced Picasso's paintings. They were both influenced by the same European Culture in which speculation about four-dimension geometry and practice problems such as synchronizing clocks which was widely discussed.

Les Demoiselles d' Avignon features a squatting woman which has a 180 degree turned head. The plot of the painting is the increasing geometrical of figures as one goes from left to right, ending up with a four-dimensional view of the squatting woman.

2. A lot of the fascination about the fourth spatial dimension was thought to be the home of spirits.

3. Einstein and Picasso both discarded the imperialistic view "what you see is what you get" in favor of the realist intellectual view- thinking not seeing, leads to truth.

And maybe something interesting to add in an essay on this topic "The purpose of science is not to provide the most economical representation of the facts and the purpose of art is not to provide the most accurate representation of what we can see (why compete with photography)"

- Ernst Mach (Austrian physicist)  not sure if the quote is 100% but someone can check up.
